2.4km along the coast and 4.2km inland. A small part of section 51 in the SWCPA handbook
However, we had a pleasant walk to South Sands where we enjoyed a hot (or perhaps warm) chocolate at the Harbour Beach hotel before walking back to the town and driving to Hope Cove. Although the Covid restrictions have been eased the pandemic is clearly not over. So, we decided to continue the walk and stay for 4 days in Hope Cove. Looking at the map and reading the SWCPA guide it sounds as if the first part of the walk from Salcombe is not very interesting.
So, having booked a holiday house to rent in Hope Cove, we thought that it would be good to walk along the first part of the path before heading for the holiday cottage, we parked in Salcombe and walked to the Ferry landing.
Salcombe, though pretty looking from the other side of the estuary, is both more basic and confusing when walking and rather like Lymington in the centre, the same up-market shops, but very restricted “private” access to the waterfront.
