2023-06-21 Just beyond Lizard Point to Mullion Cove

Most of  section 34 in the SWCPA handbook

10 km along the coast and 11.5 km inland

From Henry’s campsite in Lizard village, we took a better route back to the Coastal path. Then along and a steep descent to Kynance Cove – swim in cold clear water and then coffee at the cafe and then continued along the coastal path.

Most of this part of the path is high, but level with the occasional steep down and up – eventually to Mullion cove where we went down to the harbour and had our picnic lunch. As it was low tide the harbour was almost dry.

Then back on the inland part of today’s trip – interesting to start but rather the same for quite a long way through the gravel heaths of the “Lower Pendrannak Downs” SSSI. I’m sure that it has interesting and unusual habitats, but not good scenic interest.

So we decided to descend, quite steeply to Kynance sands again for a quick swim and the ice-cream and scone at the café. Only a short walk back to Henry’s campsite in Lizard village.
