5.7km along the coast and 6.1 inland
Part of section 62 in the SWCPA handbook
Very different weather from our last trip only a few weeks ago. A sunny start to the day and we left home quite early and got to the National Trust Car park at Stonebarrow a little before midday. Then set off for a relatively short, but quite steep walk to Golden Cap.
As often happens the top of Golden Cap was quite crowded, Covid19, has made us, and I think most people of a certain age, weary or “crowds” so 20 people at the top of Golden Cap encouraged us to head down and find a quitter spot to stop for a smoked salmon roll for lunch.
Despite warnings from the SWCPA guide there is now (June 2021) a Good coastal path all the way to Charmouth, which we followed to be able to enjoy an Ice Cream by the beach. Even though it is June there was a keen wind that didn’t encourage us to swim, though some children don’t seem to notice the cold.
So we took the road back up Stonebarrow Lane, which is surprisingly steep even to walk, back to Frodo parked at the top of the hill.
