2.55 km along the coast and 3.28km inland
As it is now light later and should be warmer, we are back to staying in Frodo, rather than the luxury of Airbnb. We had a little difficulty booking a campsite near the path for the next length – there was one shown at Wembury, but when I phoned, he said that a tree had fallen down on the toilet block and so he was closed at present – so we had booked a site at Brixton, a little further from the path.
So, we decided to start early, which had the advantage of very quiet road on a Sunday morning, and we parked at the National Trust car-park at Wembury Beach. There is a café here and although it was quite warm, it was cloudy, however the quite large carpark was nearly full and the beach quite busy particularly with kayaks and paddleboards.
After coffee we walked up to the church and along a series of footpaths to Warren Point where the ferry runs to Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo. Although described as a seasonal ferry, it is also a part-time ferry today just running from 10:00 to 12:00 and 15:00 to 16:00 – so we were glad not to need it!.
From here the Coastal path is easy to follow and only has a single hill on the way back to Wembury Beach but has great views of the Yealm estuary. This lead us back to Wembury beach and an ice-cream before driving to the camp-site at Brixton.
