14.68km along the coast, 1.92km inland and about 23km by bus
Today’s plan was to walk from the campsite to Looe and then to catch a bus to Portwrinkle and walk back to the campsite. Sounds easy, except for the “Go Cornwall” app, other apps and perhaps my interpretation of them.
We walked a pleasant and fairly easy, only one up and down to the quite busy town/village of Looe – people were beginning to take places on the beach and then thought that it would be a good idea to see where the bus left.
The app told us that we would need a 75 bus, but the bus stop information showed only a 73 and 72. After a Good Iced coffee we caught a 72 bus to Kernow Mill, waited a little on the roadside with no sign of a bus-stop bur were relieved to find that a 75A bus came and took us to Sheviock Church. From there it was only about a mile to Portwrinkle and we could start the coastal walk at about 1:30 pm.
Although the first bit looked steep, it was a fairly gentle incline, but then there were a series of steeper paths and steps – so we stopped for lunch before descending to Downderry.
A rather downmarket village with no coastal frontage, though we walked down to the beach and along to Seaton, a little better beach for a swim and ice-cream.
Then back along road and a less used part of path, slightly overgrown in places, past the monkey sanctuary and back to the campsite
