To walk along the next section of the Coastal Path towards Falmouth, we rented a small property right on the Coastal Path at West Portholland – this is part od the Caerhays Castle Estate. So on the way to the property, which was not available till 4pm, we had considered walking from Mevagissy to Goran Haven, however a fairly slow journey to Cornwall and the early sunset at this time of year made it unfeasible.
So we stopped at a small car-park at Portmellon and walked back to Mevagissy – almost all along the road, but through a little park back to the centre of the village with the harbour and fishing boats.
Quite a contrast to our visit back in September, now almost empty and floodboards rather than customers in front of the Kelly’s Ice-cream shop.
However as the sun was shining we did manage to find a strawberry ice cream before walking back almost the same way to Portmellon.
Here the pub, the Rising Sun had signs outside, asking customers to return glasses to the bar, but another “Closed – reopening Easter 2023” so it would be rather a long wait for a drink!
