2025-07-17 Porthcothan to Harlyn Bridge

The whole of section 20  in the SWCPA handbook

12.1km along the coast, 2.4km Inland and 9.8 km by bus

The morning was misty and so we made a rather slow start before walking down the hill from the campsite to Porthcothan. Then rejoined the coastal path after crossing the bridge.

Porthcothan beach

A fairly easy slow acescent and a flat section before descending to Trevose beach where we found a rather good café, the Melt, on the way down to the beach. The path then crosses the sandy beach before crossing a rocky outcrop and descending to Constantine beach.

Then another fairly gentle, but quite long ascent, along a path adapted for mobility scooters, to Trevose head and the prominent lighthouse.

Then slowly down to Mother Ivey’s beach for a swim and lunch. There is not much here but a large collection of Static caravans but a good calm beach.

Back up and along the cliffs for a short while before crossing Harlyn Beach and getting to a collection of food and drink outlets where we had a drink and waited for the bus from Harlyn Bridge back to Porthcothan.
