2024-03-20 Porthcurno – Minack Theatre to Nanjizal Bay

About half of section 29 in the SWCPA handbook

6.1km along the coast and 5.1 km inland

We were staying in an Airbnb in Sennen Cove and so went by car back to Porthcurno and then walked up the road to the Minack Theatre.

From here the coast path starts along the top of a cliff, past a small beach at Porth Chapel and then continues to Porthgwarra. Here we walked down to the beach through a tunnel.

When we returned to the “village centre” only a few houses and a big car park, we were delighted to find a little coffee shop open and so stopped for a little longer.

The coastal path continues over heathland, with mostly a good surface until a fairly steep descent to Nanjizak or Mill Bay (as it says on the OS Map” here steps lead to a small beach (it was high tide) where we sat on a rock for lunch.

From here back across a series of fields Some ploughed (Why some farmers are so mean or so lazy to drive their tractor across a newly ploughed field to mark the right-of way, I just don’t understand – I’m sure that they suffer much more damage from people trying to find the route) with no sign of the path, back to Porthcurno. We walked down to the beach for cake before driving back to Sennen Cove.
