April

Although the clocks have just changes so that it is light till nearly 8pm, it was still cold at the beginning of April. So we decided to have another 3 days in an Airbnb house, this time in Newton Ferrers.

From there we walked between the River Erme crossing to the Ferry point on the River Yealm where the patch continues to Wembury and then to Plymouth.

More details are now on the website

Spring

No that spring is here it should be getting warmer – We stayed at Hope Cove for 4 days and walked from the Salcombe ferry to the River Erne – most of the time there was a cold wind, but we had sunshine on the last day.

I have had all sorts of problems with the website, and no help from the hosting provider. Hopefully this is working now.

2022 New year

At the end of January we stayed at Kingsbridge and walks in 3 days from Torcross to Salcombe. I put full description of these works on the website, but discovered that there seemed to be a problem.

My website, or more specifically, my either my hosting provider or WordPress had been hacked and anyone visiting the site was diverted to a medical marketing company. This has nothing to do with me and I can only apologise if it happened.

I think the problem is now fixed and will put details of the walks back on the website when I am confident it is working properly.

December 2021

We stayed in a Chalet on the edge of Dartmouth for 4 days and had three day’s walking. Generally warm but cloudy with drizzle at times so not great for coastal views and photos.

However we did walk from Mansands (Some maps say Man Sands and other Mansands) to Torcross.

Pictures and details are now on the website

End of the Summer?

We have just got back from another four days away and three days walking along the Coastal Path. Having had three beautiful and sunny days we had rain and drizzle on the last day, but have now got as far as Man Sands, between Brixham and Kingswear.

As the clocks change next week, staying in out camper van is less pleasant and so we may resort to the occasional static caravan for a couple of trips in the winter – we will just have to see what is available.

Back on the path

We have just come back from Devon, this time a mixture of visiting friends and walking.

From Starcross we have now reached St Marychurch on the North of Torquay.

The course of Covid for the winter seems unclear and I think that it is likely that we will get some restrictions during the winter, but hopefully they won’t stop us continuing.

After the clocks change at the end of October it becomes less practical to stay in Frodo so we may have a little time in a static caravan sometine in the winter.

July 2021 – Completed the Jurassic Coast

We have just had three days staying at Salcombe Regis and have now completed the Jurassic Coast section of the South West Coastal Path. I will put more details of fours day’s walking now on the website.

Although all “legal” restrictions for Covid19 will be retracted on 19th July, it is clear that the Pandemic is far from over and there will be many “recommendations” from the government which will probably create more confusion. I don’t think that we can be sure that the situation is much better util after the winter – ie Spring 2022.

So for the time being at least we are likely to avoid crowded public spaces if possible and this will include public transport. We have also discovered a number of interesting villages on the much less crowded inland footpaths and so will continue to avoid public transport and as a result walk almost twice as far. So far we have walked 312 miles since September including 153 along the coast.

June 2021 walked to Branscombe

We have just had four days away and completed 5 walks, now having passed the Lyme Regis undercliff and got as far as Branscombe Mouth.

I have added the description of the walks, pictures and maps to the website.

Some progress but stopped by gales

Since the Covid regulations allowed campsites to open all facilities from 17th May, we had earlier booked a pitch for our VW at Highlands End near Eype. This is one of our favourite campsites.

We had two good days of walking and so completed the walk from Abbotsbury to the Campsite, but strong winds and heavy rain made the next part of the path, to Golden Cap, potentially dangerous so we (for the first time ever) left the campsite a day early and came home. Hopefully to continue in June.

Further details and pictures are now available on the website.

April 2021 Durdle Door to Abbotsbury

We have just come back from staying for 4 days at Osmingtom Mills and walked from Durdle Door to Abbotsbury in 5 days.

Lovely sunny weather but cold East wind at times – and interesting are with lots of contrast.
