2023-08-17 Treverven Farm Campsite to Porthcurno – Minack Theatre

About half of section 30, and a little of section 29 in the SWCPA handbook

4.3 km along the coast and 7.3 km inland

We stayed at Treverven Farm campsite between Lamorna and Porthcurno as we had booked tickets for the Minack Theatre for the afternoon. The farm has a direct path to join the coastal path, so we took advantage of this. The morning was misty but cleared later to sunshine.

The first part of the coastal path from here has a very steep down and up, as the path was rocky, we made slow progress before another steep descent to Penberth Cove, where we stopped for water. There were a few small fishing boats on the slipway and a few people chatting.

Then another steep ascent and then a good coastal path along the cliffs, getting more popular as we approached the sands at Percella and Porthcurno. The beaches looked busy from above and the colour of the sea was more Mediterranean than Cornwsll.

We descended  to Porthcurno, with a very busy car-park, and stopped at the beach café. Then walked up the road to the Manick Theatre. This is built into the cliff and has views out to sea, behind the stage. We sat on a grass terrace and had a pastie for lunch before the show – “Everyone is talking about Jamie”.

After the performance, we walked down a short section of Coastal Path to Porthcurno, then a little way back and we took an inland path to Treen, where we stopped at “The Logan Rock”  pub before taking a series of paths and minor roads back to the campsite.
